Fronted by Josh Homme, QOTSA haven’t released a new album since 2007 full-length, Era Vulgaris, with Homme connecting with Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters and former Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones to form the band Them Crooked Vultures in 2009.

Fans of the band chomping at the bit to finally get new music from Queens of the Stone Age won’t have to wait too much longer. As reported by Antiquiet, the group’s new album, …Like Clockwork, is slated for a summer release sometime this June. According to Spin, the album will their first on stalwart indie label, Matador Records, home to such acts as Interpol and Sonic Youth.

The announcement comes after months of cryptic messages and online teases, with QOTSA revealing a dazzling array of collaborators on the new album, including Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails and How to Destroy Angels, Elton John, original bassist Nick Olivieri and Scissors Sisters frontman Jake Shears.

In keeping with the mysterious lead up to the new record, the band has quietly provided very brief song snippets from the release on their official website. Different snippets can be heard by refreshing the page, although their brevity could prove frustrating to fans eager to hear what QOTSA have in store on …Like Clockwork.

While Grohl played drums during recording, the band also plans on revealing their new touring drummer over the next week, as QOTSA is scheduled to perform at Lollpalooza Brazil, set for the weekend of March 29-31. They’ll also be among the acts on the bill for Lollapalooza Chile, April 6-7, alongside the likes of Pearl Jam, Deadmau5 and the Black Keys.
