Conditions of entry

1. Participation
Film producers and movie directors from any country are invited to participate in the film festival.
Narrative short and feature films of any production format about gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender issues may participate.

2. Requirements
The films will have been produced after the 1st January 2006.
No films commercially previewed in Spain will be accepted.
Each entrant will present as many films as he/she wishes.
The authors are responsible for the rights of their work(s).

3. Entry registration
In order to be considered for shortlisting, the following documentation of those films interested in participating in the festival should arrive at the organisation before the 21st of March 2008:

• Entry Form duly completed.
• Preview copy of the film DVD (Zone 2).
• Films stills (floppy disk or CD-ROM, .jpg format).
• Original list of dialogs in digital format with translation into English or Spanish for those movies that are not shot in Spanish.

4. Festival selection
The selection will be carried out by a committee of the organisation, under the sole criteria of quality. The result of the selection will be made public on the 11 th April 2008, at the latest. The decision of the short-listing committee is final and no discussion will be entered into.
All the shortlisted films will be needed by the festival organisation in the required format on the 15 th May 2008, at the latest. The producers of short listed films are invited to send any available publicity and promotional materials with the submission of their films. They authorise the festival organisation to use these materials to promote the event and the participation of the film. At the same time, the organisation is allowed to use a film fragment of not more than 3 minutes for the same purpose.
The organisation does not assume the shipping costs of the reception of the films.
The short listed films will be screened in public sessions, according to the location, the dates and the timetables indicated on the official program of the festival or according to any other decision taken by the festival organisation.

5. Jury
The jury will be made up of representatives of the Gay and Lesbian Community, as well as recognised actors, movie directors and specialised journalists.
The jury will be in charge of awarding the prizes, which will be made public at the end of the last screening session.
The members of the jury commit themselves to keep their decisions secret until after the official prize-giving ceremony. The jury decisions are final and no discussion will be entered into.

6. Festival del Mar 2008 Awards
Once all the selected films have been screened, the jury will award the following prizes:
BEST FEATURE FILM
BEST SHORT FILM
BEST ACTOR
BEST ACTRESS
Each awarded short film will win a statuette specially created for the event. The jury prizes can be awarded to the same film.

7. Acceptance of the conditions
Submitting the Entry Form means accepting the Conditions of Entry and the decisions of the festival organisation, selection committee and jury. Any issue not considered in the Conditions of Entry will be dealt with by the festival organisation.

Bases de participación

1. Participación
La participación está abierta a todos los productores y realizadores de cine de cualquier nacionalidad.
Podrán participar largometrajes y cortometrajes de ficción de cualquier formato de producción con temática gay, lésbica, bisexual o transexual.

2. Requisitos
Los filmes tendrán que haber sido producidos después del 1 de enero de 2006.
No se admiten películas estrenadas comercialmente en España.
Cada autor podrá presentar el número de obras que desee.
Los autores se responsabilizarán de los derechos de sus obras.

3. Inscripción
A efectos de poder entrar en la selección, la organización deberá haber recibido de los interesados en participar en el festival, la siguiente documentación, antes del 21 de marzo de 2008:

• Ficha de inscripción debidamente cumplimentada.
• Copia de la película en DVD (Zona 2).
• Fotogramas de la película (en soporte disquete o CD-Rom en formato JPG).
• Lista de diálogos original en formato digital con su traducción al inglés o al castellano para aquellas películas que no estén rodadas en castellano.

4. Selección
La selección de las películas la llevará a cabo un comité de la organización, bajo estrictos criterios de calidad. El resultado de la selección se hará público el 11 de abril de 2008, notificándose a cada interesado. La decisión del comité de selección es inapelable.
Las películas seleccionadas deberán estar en poder de la organización, en el formato requerido, antes del 15 de mayo de 2008. Las copias se pueden enviar acompañadas de material promocional y publicitario, quedando debidamente autorizada la organización del festival para su utilización en cuanto tenga que ver con la promoción del evento y la participación de la película en el mismo. Asimismo se autoriza la utilización de fragmentos de las obras seleccionadas, no superiores a
3 minutos, para los mismos fines.
La organización no se hace cargo de los gastos de recepción de las películas.
Las películas seleccionadas serán exhibidas en sesiones públicas en el lugar designado, en los horarios y fechas que figuren en el programa oficial del festival o, en su caso, según disponga la organización del mismo.

5. Jurado
El jurado estará compuesto por los representantes de los Colectivos de Gays y Lesbianas, reconocidos actores, directores, realizadores y críticos de cine.
Será el encargado de otorgar los premios, que se darán a conocer al final de la última sesión de proyecciones.
Sus miembros se comprometen a guardar reserva sobre sus decisiones hasta después de la entrega oficial de premios. El fallo del jurado será inapelable.

6. Premios Festival del Mar 2007
Tras el visionado de todas las películas, el jurado concederá los siguientes premios:
MEJOR LARGOMETRAJE
MEJOR CORTOMETRAJE
MEJOR ACTOR
MEJOR ACTRIZ
Cada una de las cintas ganadoras será galardonada con una estatuilla creada para la ocasión. Los premios otorgados por el jurado son acumulables.

7. Aceptación de las bases
La inscripción supone la aceptación de estas bases y de las decisiones de la organización, comité de selección y jurado del festival. Cualquier cuestión no prevista en las bases será resuelta por la organización del festival.
